The formal gay scene is relatively small, but burning brightly with Mars Bar night club offering a brilliant night out with lively staff, hot dj’s, great drag shows. Enjoy the other great offerings such as Exeter Hotel Semaphore ,the Crown and Anchor Hotel, the Ram Lounge, Edinburgh Castle Hotel with its nice atmosphere and DJ Lush and finally Cougar Leather Club for leather/denim/bear nights every 1st and 3rd Thursday night each month from 9pm. Also worthy of note, The Beat at Sugar every Wednesday night is great for dancing up a storm (as is Mars Bar) and if you want to chill out at a very cool bar, get yourself to the Wheatsheaf Hotel.
Complimenting the venue scene, are the social clubs and other gay and lesbian networks to socialise and meet new people. The Golden Club created in 1989 is just one of many…a socal environment for lesbian women over 30 to meet and hang out. Up and coming events such as the Feast (Nov 2009) with over 100 events from sport through to cabaret, theatre, movies and so much more create enough energy and a month’s worth of action to tire you out for the rest of the year.
