Swimming with whale sharks at Ningaloo Reef is one of Australia’s must-do travel experiences.Taking the plunge with the world’s biggest fish is an awesome and humbling experience. Small groups of only ten swimmers at a time are dropped close by these docile giants are they move through the water. You’ll feel dwarfed by their massive size and even wider mouth which scoops up millions of tiny plankton – lucky for us whale sharks are vegetarians and their curiosity about people has nothing to do with feeding. Incredibly, whale sharks can grow up to 12 metres in length with a mouth over a metre wide.

The spectacular Blowholes, located about an hour`s drive north of Carnarvon, shoot a powerful jet of water 20 metres into the air in an awesome display of nature. The Loop and Z Bend (Gascoyne Western Australia)

A drive of thirty-five kilometres just out of Kalbarri leads to these beauty spots, where you are made truly aware of the beauty and artistry of nature. The views are spectacular with dramatic cliffs banded in cream and deep red, dropping sheer to the river far below. The Loop is so named because here a section of the Murchison River meanders and forms enormous loops. At the Z Bend, the Murchison River flows through a narrow ravine.

 Turquoise Bay

Turquoise Bay (Gascoyne Western Australia)

Dive into the pristine waters of the aptly named Turquoise Bay near the town of Exmouth and you`re swimming within a few metres of Ningaloo Reef.  Known as one of Western Australia`s best beaches, Turquoise Bay is the perfect spot to spend an afternoon relaxing, swimming and snorkelling. Try your hand at the popular drift snorkel by swimming out to the reef on the southern end of the beach, then letting the current wash you north to the sand bar. You`ll see colourful coral and plenty of fish - more than 500 fish species reflecting every colour of the rainbow live in and around the reef.
