SYDNEY
Sydneysiders
are pretty open-minded, however there are special beaches where one can be very
comfortable, being openly gay.
One of the
oldest nude beach is Lady Bay Beach mostly frequented by gay men. It is located about
12 km north east of the city centre close to Watsons Bay. But… privacy is a rare commodity
at “Lady Jane”. Busloads of Japanese or Taiwanese tourists can be seen on the
walk-way above, to gawk down on the nakedness below and clicking their camaras.
Likewise, Harbour tour-boats seem to come very close to shore to give their
customers the best voyeuristic vantage of the flesh ashore.
This beach
is strongly recommended to the exhibitionists among you as a silent but
interested audience is almost guaranteed. That being said, Lady Jane Beach is
still worth the visit and again, if you are modest, bathing suites are
tolerated on this beach.
Obelisk
Beach in Mosman give you more privacy and is the
favourite of gay and lesbian sun lovers. Officially sanctioned as a clothing
optional beach, it is not uncommon to find bathers and beach-goers completely
free of swimwear. This beach could be considered a gay beat and is also a place
to meet for Internet friends.
What is it about Australian men? The only way to find out is to spend time at Bondi Beach in Bondi. The beach community, an Aussie icon for decades, is the epicenter of Sydney's relaxed urban cool. Half of the city's top male models already live in the neighborhood; the rest turn up on balmy nights.
Bondi Beach is at its best, not surprisingly in summer. Activity kicks off at dawn, with joggers on the promenade, muscled bodies by the shore and die-hard surfers catching a few waves before work. Although it has its trademark hunky lifeguards with their Speedo wedgies (a practice that keeps the left and right side of their brains separated, according to the Aussies) and is the better-known gay hangout, Tamarama just to the south, is more intimate and picturesque.
A paved
walkway offers beautiful views during the ten-minute walk from the fairly gay
southern end of Bondi Beach to Tamarama Beach, nicknamed "Glamorama,"
as the buffed and beautiful (known as "Barbies" by the locals) come
here to see and be seen.
Little
Congwong Beach at Botany Bay in La Perouse has a mixed gay and straight nude
beach. It is small, and has been described as the most beautiful, beach oasis
in Sydney and been used for filmsets.

BYRON
BAY
Kings
Beach is without
doubt one of the most beautiful nudist beaches anywhere. It is considered to be
the official gay beach of Byron Bay. Gay people come from all over the world to
visit this beach. Located within a short drive from the center of Byron, it
makes this beach a must-visit destination for any gay people staying in Byron
Bay.
Tyagarah Beach, north of Byron Bay, is accessible via Greys Lane (a long and
dusty road with quite few pot holes) near the Adventure Sport Airport. Before
the beach are the Tea-Tree lakes that many people like to swim in. Clothing is optional and
this can attract both the free spirited dressed in their birthday suit and
those keen to ogle at those free spirits.
Both Tyagarah Beach and the Tea-Tree Lakes are popular with gay man.
PORT
MACQUARIE
If you want a bit of peace and quiet go to Miners Beach. This is the beach for walkers and nudist`s and one of the quietest beaches in Port Macquarie. Not easily accessible, it is at the Tacking Point end of a beautiful and well constructed coastal walk which starts at Nobby`s Hill. It is hard to believe you are so close to town as there is virtually zero development looking over the secluded beaches and headlands of the walk.
